NEWS: Amanchu! Manga Gets Anime Adaption for Summer 2016

Shochiku unveiled a teaser video announcing that Kozue Amano‘s Amanchu! manga will receive a television anime adaptation in summer 2016. The teaser shows the character designs for the characters Ōki Futaba and Hikari Kohinata.

Kozue Amano began publishing the manga in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Blade shōnen magazine on 29 November 2008. The series switched from a monthly to a quarterly publication schedule in late 2010 due to the author’s pregnancy. The Manga consists of 9 volumes (still on- going). It will be slated in July 2016.

Shochiku also began streaming a new television commercial on Monday for Aria the Avvenire, the latest anime adaptation of Amano’s Aria manga that celebrates the anime’s 10th anniversary.

Synopsis from MAL

Hikari Kohinata is a cheerful 15-year-old girl who lives near the ocean and she spends much of her time diving as a result. On her first day of high school, she meets a teacher who also likes scuba diving. There’s also a 16-year-old classmate, Futaba, who gets dragged along in Hikari’s maelstrom as soon as they meet at school. Most of the manga so far details the relationship between the two girls, which quickly seems to move into romantic two girl friendship-territory.

Genres: Comedy, School, Shounen, Slice of Life

The series will be directed by Junichi Sato and Kenichi Kasai, and written by Deko Akao. It will be produced by animation studio J.C.Staff, with character designs by Yoko Ito.
